Health Awareness Brings a New Beginning for Sapna

Sapna, a resident of Nihanwala village, was like many women in her community - busy with daily chores and unaware of the importance of preventive health care. Conversations about health were rare, and visits to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) were mostly for routine illnesses. Preventive screening for diseases like breast or cervical cancer was unheard of.

For months, Sapna experienced occasional pain in her breast but avoided seeking help due to fear, stigma, and lack of confidence. Her life changed when the Mamta team, supported by Mankind Pharma, organized a cancer screening camp at her local PHC. Encouraged by ASHAs and the Mamta team, Sapna attended the camp. With compassionate guidance, she underwent her first breast cancer screening.

The screening showed a positive finding, and Sapna was referred for further tests at a hospital. Though nervous, she gained confidence from the Mamta team’s emotional support and follow-up. With all services provided free of cost, Sapna realized the value of early detection and regular check-ups.

Sapna now talks to other women about breast health and encourages them to prioritize their well-being. Her journey transformed her outlook on health, making her a symbol of hope and change in her village.
